The marketing bandwagon has touted soy as the next perfect health food for decades with its health benefits aggressively pushed in the media. From 1992 to 2006, soy food sales increased from $300Mil to nearly $4Bil!i Soybean is the number one genetically modified crop in the world (93% of soy is GMO), containing high amounts of Glyphosate. Due to its high iron, oil and protein content, soy is cultivated for a variety of food purposes, but does more harm than good as shown by more than 170 studies. Most modern soy food, from soy milk to soy burgers, are processed, which means they contain natural toxins called “antinutrients” that pose a danger to your health by blocking your absorption of proteins and has phytic acid that blocks minerals – especially zinc. Unfortunately, most Americans (85% according to 2008 study) still believe that unfermented and processed soy products like soy milk, soy cheese, soy burgers and soy ice cream are good for them.

Veganism

The practice of abstaining from the use of animal products, particularly in diet, and an associated philosophy that rejects the commodity status of animals. A follower of the diet or the philosophy is known as a vegan. Its roots go back to England, when in 1944, Donald Watson coined the term “vegan.” His primary argument for veganism was one of ethics (having no training in nutrition) after seeing a pig slaughtered. There doesn’t appear to be a single population of any significant size in the history of the world who survived on an exclusively plant-based diet, so from a health perspective, there’s little support for the strict veganism idealized today. It involves the complete exclusion of ALL types of animal products — not just meat and animal organs, but also products obtained from live animals, such as dairy and eggs. It also excludes seafood. However, a vegetarian diet that includes some animal foods in the form of eggs, dairy and fish, makes for a healthy balanced diet that supplies all the critical nutrients your body needs for optimal health.
